How much you save on dental work in Ukraine vs the UK, Ireland and Germany
A treatment-by-treatment look at what dental work costs in Ukraine compared with the UK, Ireland and Germany, plus what flights and hotels add back, and where travelling is genuinely worth it. The figures for other countries are approximate typical private ranges, and the euro and pound amounts are rough conversions at 2026 rates.
The headline gap
The money is in implants and full-mouth work. A single implant with a crown is from about €400 at this clinic against roughly £2,000 to 2,500 privately in the UK, and a full jaw on implants is from about €4,000 here against £10,000 to 15,000 in Britain or €8,000 to 15,000 in Germany. That is where a trip pays for itself several times over. A single filling or a check-up is a different story: the saving is small in absolute terms, and it will not cover a flight, so it is not worth travelling for on its own.
About the numbers below: the Ukraine prices are our own guide prices, converted from hryvnia, so euro and pound amounts are approximate. The UK, Irish and German figures are typical private ranges gathered from published clinic pricing and are approximate too. Treat everything as a ballpark for comparison, not a quote.
Single implant with crown
This is the treatment most people travel for, and the gap is the clearest. In Ukraine an implant with a crown is from about €400 (roughly £340), which covers the implant, abutment and zirconia-ceramic crown.

Ceramic veneers
Veneers are usually done several at a time, so the per-tooth difference multiplies fast. Here a ceramic veneer is from about €265 per tooth.

Crowns
A zirconia crown is from about €175 here, and a metal-ceramic crown is about €90 to 135. Abroad a crown of either kind sits far higher.

This is the single biggest saving of the lot. A full arch on implants is from about €4,000 (roughly £3,400) here.

Root canal
A root canal on a single canal is from about €55 here. It is included for completeness, but on its own it is not a reason to fly. It is the kind of thing worth doing while you are here for something bigger.

A worked example
Say you need two implants with crowns and six ceramic veneers, a fairly common smile-restoration plan. Here is roughly how the two totals compare, using the middle of the UK ranges above.

Now add the travel. Return flights from many EU cities run about €150 to 300. Implants usually need two trips, so call it two return flights, say €500 at the higher end. Add five to seven hotel nights at roughly €40 to 70 a night, so around €300 to 500. Even with, say, €1,000 of flights and hotels on top, the Ukraine plan lands near €3,400 against about €10,500 in the UK. The net saving is still on the order of €7,000.
Why it is cheaper, not worse
The price difference is about where the work is done, not what it is made of. Rent, wages and dental-lab costs in Ukraine are a fraction of what they are in London, Dublin or Munich, and that flows straight into the price of every crown and implant. The materials do not change: we work with the same EU and Korean brands used in Western clinics, including Creation and Duceram ceramics and established Korean implant systems. Same components, same lab techniques, lower local costs. If a clinic will not name the materials, that is worth questioning wherever it is.
The costs people forget to count
An honest comparison has to include the extras that do not show up on a price list:
- Flights, and often more than one set of them.
- Accommodation for the days you are in town, usually five to seven nights per trip.
- Two trips for implants. The implant goes in on the first visit, then it needs a few months to fuse before the crown goes on, so most implant cases mean coming back.
- Time off work and the general hassle of travelling for treatment.
None of this cancels the saving on a big plan. It just means the small jobs rarely make sense to travel for once you count it all.
When it is worth travelling, and when it is not
The rule of thumb is simple. If the plan is large or has several items, implants, multiple veneers, a full arch, crowns across several teeth, then travelling pays off clearly, often by thousands. If it is one small thing, a single filling, a check-up, one simple extraction, stay home and have it done locally. The saving on a €30 filling will never cover a €200 flight, and it should not pretend to.
